Historian Douglas Brinkley at Mount Vernon

Historian Douglas Brinkley and I had an opportunity to visit after his recent presentation, “What it Means to be an American.” Held at George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate, I discovered Doug has been to my home town of Kansas City many times to do research at the Truman Library as well as for his biography of Walter Cronkite. He is a big fan of KC. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to discuss our personal favorite barbecue!
